TIPS AND TRICKS In Environmental Laboratories VOC analysis is typically done using a Purge and Trap device coupled to a GC/MS to achieve the required detection limits. Purge and Trap systems are difficult to use, have a greater potential for carry-over issues resulting in expensive repairs and considerable downtime. Headspace analysis using a CTC Combi-PAL with an ITEX (in-tube extraction) add-on module is now a viable alternative. The ITEX performs enrichment of volatile or semi-volatile compounds by multiple sample concentrations on a microtrap. This combines the easy-to-use, low carry-over Headspace technique with a purge and trap style concentration for lower detection limits. MEET CASSIDYIN SUPPORT SALES With K'Prime Technologies for 5 years, Cassidy is the Support Sales Representative for Western Canada and works out of our Calgary office. Prior to this role, he served as Technical Sales Representative for Southern Alberta. After graduating from SAIT Polytechnic's Chemical Technology program, Cassidy started his career with K'Prime Technologies. He recalls the days when he could not rent a SUV while travelling to the US with customers due to age restrictions. When he's not working with his team on new projects, you will often see him riding his bike with his dog running alongside him.
