K’(Prime) Technologies RPPX-250 Column for ClO4 Analysis on LC/MS

The RPPX series column is designed for Perchlorate (ClO4) analysis. Utilizing the extra-dense bonding of organo-silane ligands and proprietary treatment, RPPX series columns are the choice for LC/MS applications for ClO4.

Advantages of RPPX Columns

  • Designed for the LC/MS mobile phase (Acetonitrile: Water: Acetic Acid). Unlike Sodium Hydroxide-based mobile phases which can contaminate your LC/MS, this mobile phase system will ensure that your LC/MS system is in good working condition.
  • Designed for high organic solvent elution to maximize ionization in the LC/MS source. This property will ensure great ionization of ClO4 in the LC/MS electro spray source. In general for the LC/MS mobile phase, the more organic solvent content, the better the ionization because the LC/MS source can evaporate the mobile phase faster.
  • Designed for high organic solvent elution to minimize column contaminations. Because many real world samples will contain some type of organic compounds, RPPX series columns are designed to run at the working condition of about 50% Acetonitrile:50% dH2O. At this level of organic solvent, the column packing does not have the abilities to retain organic molecules. Thus, organic molecules from very complex samples like waste water, soil extract, biological liquid (milk), and plant extracts will just elute very close to the void volume of the column. Hence, the optima operating mobile phase of this column is the same as the cleaning conditions for organic contaminants.
  • Designed selectively to retain Perchlorate and not other ions. Unlike Ion Exchange-based columns, RPPX series columns are designed with Ion Exchange sites to retain ions and therefore will not be subjected to any ion contaminants and co-elution like Sulfate. Taking advantage of the hydrophobic property of Perchlorate, RPPX columns have good selectivity for Perchlorate and other ions like Chlorate (ClO3). See test chromatogram.
  • Retention time for Perchloratedepends on the composition content of Acetonitrile in the mobile phase. The more Acetonitrile concentration in the mobile phase, the longer the retention time. This property is exceptionally good for LC/MS applications since more organic solvent is better for LC/MS ionization.
